PKR delegates approve constitutional amendments

SHAH ALAM: PKR delegates have approved all proposed amendments to the party constitution during a Special Congress, says Fuziah Salleh.

The PKR secretary-general said the amendments, supported by more than two-thirds of the delegates, include changes to the party’s election process and principles related to gender and ethnic quotas.

"The Special Congress witnessed over two-thirds of the representatives agreeing to and passing all proposed constitutional amendments," Fuziah said in a statement on Sunday (December 15).

The amendments aim to enhance the party’s internal election structure by increasing the number of delegates eligible to vote for the six top party positions and 20 Central Leadership Council (MPP) members at the National Congress.

"These amendments also reflect the principles of gender and ethnic representation," Fuziah added.

The new dates for the 2024 and 2025 National Congress will be announced after the MPP makes a decision in its upcoming meeting.
