GEORGE TOWN: The Star Education Fair 2024 resumes on Sunday (Dec 15), featuring an exciting lineup of talks and activities on its second day.
Visitors can look forward to sessions covering a wide range of topics and take the opportunity to visit the last day of the fair, which features attractive education packages.
First in the lineup was Dr Ali Zhang Hengchao from INCEIF University, who spoke about the evolution of Islamic Finance Education in Malaysia.
The Academic Division assistant professor stated that INCEIF was designed to bridge the gap between Islamic finance theory and practice, leveraging academic and industry expertise.
"INCEIF is an accredited global university specializing in Islamic finance. It was established by Bank Negara Malaysia in 2005 to develop professionals and specialists in Islamic finance to chart the future of the global Islamic financial industry," he said during his talk at Setia Spice Convention Centre.
It is also the only Islamic Finance University in Malaysia to be accredited.
The talks continued with Dr Richard Ritikos, programme coordinator and senior lecturer from University Malaya, introducing the courses and programmes at the university from 12.30pm to 1pm.
This was followed by a session on academic accreditation from the UK and career paths in Singapore by Kolej MDIS Malaysia, presented by the college's student recruitment manager.
Located in Iskandar Education Centre in Johor Baru, it is the second campus after the main campus in Singapore.
"We offer a variety of training and education programs in collaboration with partners such as the University of Sunderland and the University of Teeside. Our programs cover diverse fields, including Business, Information Technology (IT), Media, Social Sciences, and Tourism Management," he told The Star.
The college also welcomes students from across Malaysia, including Penang, to come to Johor Baru to further their studies.
There will also be talks from UniKL, 21 MI Academy, Penang Youth Development Centre, and Methodist College Kuala Lumpur.
Organised by Star Media Group, the two-day fair, which ends on Sunday (Dec 15), offers various tertiary study options and financial assistance such as study loans and scholarships, with a total of 32 institutions occupying 52 booths.
The exhibitors during the two-day event include Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC), Peninsula College Malaysia, Mahsa University, Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), INCEIF University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), and London School of Business and Finance (LSBF).
Other exhibitors are the United Kingdom Education Centre (UKEC), Universiti Malaya (UM), Inti International University & Colleges, Open University Malaysia (OUM), Kolej MDIS Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), Equator College, EduClaas Malaysia, 21 MI Academy, Wawasan Open University (WOU), Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN), DISTED College International Medical University (IMU), Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), UTeM Pengajian Siswazah, and University of Cyberjaya (UoC).
The fair is open from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free with door gifts for early birds.
The Star Education Fair, now in its 37th year, is one of the country’s pioneering education exhibitions. It has continuously provided visitors with educational programmes ranging from pre-university, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate to professional and vocational courses from various local and international institutions.
