KLUANG: A 17-year-old teenager has perished in a crash at KM74.1 northbound on the North-South Expressway here.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at 3.10am on Sunday (Dec 15) involving two motorcycles.
“Investigations revealed that a motorcycle, ridden by a 17-year-old boy travelling from Simpang Renggam to Ayer Hitam, lost control and collided with the rear of another bike.
“The other motorcycle then struck a metal guardrail on the left side of the road,” he said in a statement.
ACP Bahrin added that a 38-year-old man riding the other motorcycle was travelling from Johor Baru to Kluang and sustained injuries to his hands and head.
“He is currently receiving treatment at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang.
“Unfortunately, the 17-year-old rider suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
Police have urged road users to exercise caution and empathy to avoid such accidents.
“Parents are also advised to monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from driving without a license or parental consent,” he added.

In an unrelated incident, a fatal accident involving a car occurred around 4pm on Saturday (Dec 14) at Jalan Emas Putih, Skudai, in Johor Baru.
Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the accident involved a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 46-year-old man.
“The car lost control while reversing from a parking space in front of a workshop, crashing into a roadside metal guardrail.
“Although the driver showed no external injuries, a post-mortem conducted by the forensic team at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Baru, confirmed that he suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
