Drug raids in Kulai seize enough heroin for 2,000 users

KULAI: Four men have been arrested while under the influence of drugs during a raid at Jalan Seelong-Ulu Tiram here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the police also seized 1,036g of drugs, believed to be heroin, during the raid on Friday (Dec 13).

"During the raid, the suspects, aged between 33 and 49, were believed to have just consumed drugs.

"They also tried to escape but failed as the police had already surrounded them," he said during a press conference at the Kulai police headquarters.

He added that all four suspects, who tested positive for drugs, were unemployed and had prior criminal records involving drugs and other crimes.

In a separate case, ACP Tan said the police arrested a 43-year-old man during a raid at Lorong Bahagia, Bukit Batu, on Saturday (Dec 14).

"The suspect was found in possession of 21.78g of drugs, believed to be heroin," he said.

He added that the drugs seized from both cases are estimated to be worth about RM11,600 and could feed the addiction of 2,000 users.

ACP Tan said all the suspects are being remanded for seven days, starting Monday (Dec 16), and both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
