GRS keen to maintain ties with Pakatan

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is keen to continue its cooperation with Pakatan Harapan amid moves by the state chapter to review their current ties ahead of the state polls, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The GRS chairman said he had informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is national Pakatan chairman, GRS’ intention to continue working with the national coalition that leads the unity government.

Hajiji, who is Chief Minister, said this to Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah members during a Christmas luncheon here on Saturday.

His speech comes as the four-party Sabah Pakatan is expected to meet today to review its position with the eight-party GRS coalition that was forged in January 2023.

Hajiji had also met with Sabah Pakatan leaders on Friday on the need to remain with the coalition amid allegations of corruption involving several GRS assemblymen over mining licences.

“My mission now is to serve the people. Getting all the existing party leaders to work together is not easy. It is tiring but God willing, they have also expressed their commitment to GRS,” he said.
