Kijal assemblyman’s wife injured in accident


PETALING JAYA: The wife of Kijal assemblyman, Datuk Razali Idris, was injured in an accident at the compound of a petrol station near Kemaman on Sunday.

The incident involving Datin Nor Aizam Abu Bakar was shared on the social media account of the Kijal Constituency Community Service Centre earlier Sunday (Dec 15) evening.

It is understood that Nor Aizam, who was initially rushed to Kemaman Hospital, has since been transferred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Acting Kemaman District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Wan Muhamad Ja’far, said in a statement that the accident occurred at kilometre (KM) 135 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu - Kuantan in Kemaman.

According to investigations, the accident involved three vehicles: a car, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), and a motorcycle.

"The accident is believed to have been caused by a car driven by a man, which suddenly reversed and lost control, colliding with another car and a motorcycle.

"As a result of the accident, a woman sustained injuries to her head and hand and was rushed to Kemaman Hospital for treatment," he said, reported by Sinar Harian.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act (RTA) 1957 for careless and inconsiderate driving.

"The public with information related to this accident are urged to contact the Kemaman District Police Headquarters at 09-8592222," he said.
