Over 7,000 accounts in Seberang Perai South to face 14-hour water disruption


GEORGE TOWN: A total of 7,238 user accounts in Seberang Perai South near here will experience a scheduled water supply disruption for 14 hours, starting at 10pm Tuesday (Dec 17).

The Penang Water Supply Corporation announced that the disruption is due to the shutdown of a 600mm pipeline for diversion works at Sungai Kerian, Seberang Perai South.

The diversions are part of a bridge upgrading project by the Public Works Department.

The scheduled water supply disruption will begin at 10pm Tuesday and end at noon on Wednesday, affecting 7,238 user accounts in areas such as Jalan Besar Dato Keramat, Jalan Besar Permatang Keling, Jalan Sempadan and Permatang Tok Mahat.

Other areas affected include Tanjung Berembang, Sungai Acheh, Sungai Udang, Sungai Chenaam and Sungai Bakau.

The corporation advised affected users to store sufficient water during the disruption.

The corporation will provide updates on the status of the water supply interruption via its official PBAPP Penang Facebook page and apologises for any inconvenience caused. - Bernama
