Floods: 113 villages in four Kelantan districts expected to be hit between Dec 18 and 21

KOTA BARU: A total of 113 villages in four districts in Kelantan have been warned of possible floods following a forecast of continuous rain from Wednesday to Saturday (Dec 18 to 21) by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

The Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) said in a statement that the affected villages are in low-lying areas within 5km of Sungai Kelantan, including 15 villages in Machang district, 54 in Pasir Mas, 16 in Tumpat and 28 in Kota Baru district.

The DID also cautioned that flooding could occur earlier or later than the forecast time and that the warning was issued to enable all residents, especially those in the affected areas, to take precautionary measures and to follow the instructions from authorities.

The villages in Machang district are: Kampung Pasir Senor, Kg Pengkalan Kiat, Kg Kerilla, Kg Tebing Renoh, Kg Cina, Kg Kuala Hau, Kg Temangan Lama, Temangan, Kg Bandar, Kg Pauh, Kg Telok Choh, Kg Belukar Panjang, Kg Padang Kelupang, Kg Bukit Besi and Kg Pertok.

The villages in Pasir Mas district are: Kg Tendong, Kg Atas Pinggir, Kg Tal Tujuh, Kg Kasar, Bandar Pasir Mas, Kg Lemal, Banggol Chicha, Padang Embun, Tok Buak, Banggol Petaling, Banggol Kemian, Lubuk Chekok, Dangar, Kubang Bemban, Kubang Panjang, Aur China, Slow Machang, Kubang Batang, Kubang Gatal, Sakar, Kubang Bunut, Jias, Pengkalan Batu, Tebing Alor, Kasar, Kelar Tok Pukang, Lubok Tapah, Bendang Pauh, Gelam, Tok Uban, Kekabu, Tanjung Puteri, Jintan, Tikam Batu, Galok, Semuba, Bandar Baru Apam, Lati, Alor Pasir, Kg Kubang Pak Amin, Kg Pengkalan Batu, Kg Slow Machang, Kg Kubang Bemban, Kg Kubang Panjang, Kg Kubang Gatal, Kg Tok Buak, Kg Manan, Kg Hutan Chengal, Kg Padang Embun, Kg Pauh (2), Kg Belukar, Kg Gaung, Kg Lati and Kg Pohon Buloh.

The villages in Tumpat are: Bandar Tumpat, Kg Chat, Kg Mak Neralang, Kg Morak, Kg Padang Tembesu, Kg Berangan, Kg Kok Majid, Kg Kok Keli, Kg Kok Pasir, Kg Sungai Pinang, Kg Paloh, Kg Palekbang, Kg Gerong, Kg Kelong, Kg Pasir Pekan and Kg Laut.

The villages and locations in Kota Baru are: Kok Lanas, Kg Pantai Kundur, Kg Semut Api, Kg Salor, Pulau Pisang Hilir, Kg Pulau Kundur, Kg Badang, SK Sultan Ismail 3, Pasir Kota, Kg Telok Chekering, Kg Banggol, Kg Tok Batek, Kg Kuala Besar, Kg Kijang, Kg Keseng, Kg Beta Hulu, Kg Kor, Kg Pulau Panjang, Kg Padang Enggang, Kg Tini, Kg Pasir Jelatang, Kg Tiong (2), Kg Mulong, Kg Penambang, Kg Tikat, Kg Bunga Mas, Kg Redang and Kg Bawah Lembah. – Bernama
