Bomba frees toddler trapped in car

KOTA KINABALU: It was the longest 15 minutes for a toddler who accidentally locked herself in her parent’s car in Kampung Airport Lama, Tawau, Tuesday morning.

Tawau Fire Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said a team of six firefighters were quickly dispatched to the scene, about 2km away, after receiving a distress call at 6.49am.

“It was understood that the 20-month-old girl had accidentally pressed the lock button from inside the car,” said Jemishin.

The toddler was safely freed after the team used special tools to unlock the door. She was later reunited with her parents.

He said the operation was called off at 7.05am after it was safe to do so.
