MALAYSIAN actress Lin Min Chen was seen trying to put out fires after she turned up late for the premiere of her latest film Haunting Call by attending and meeting fans at as many screenings as she could, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 34-year-old actress, who was criticised for turning up late to the premiere in Hong Kong on Dec 6, was spotted at seven different screenings of the film in Hong Kong in just one day.

The Penangite was seen wearing the same outfit as she did on the night of the premiere, which many took as a gesture of apology to fans and colleagues.

Whenever a fan asked for a selfie, Lin would happily oblige.

At one of the screenings, Lin praised film director Danny Pang for his grounded approach to filmmaking.

It was reported that just hours before the movie premiere in Hong Kong on Dec 6, Lin – who was the lead actress – informed Pang that she would not be able to make it.

An upset Pang later told the media that none of the actors who had worked with him in the past had ever missed a movie premiere other than Lin.

As a result of Lin’s absence, Pang said they would have to pay compensation to the organisers of the premiere.

In 2014, Lin went viral on social media and became an influencer, before being signed to a record label as a singer in 2015, which marked her first foray into the entertainment industry.

Based in Taiwan, Lin has released several music albums and appeared in TV series and films, with the most recent being A Moment of Happiness (2020), One Second Champion (2021), and Table For Six (2022).

Her latest film Haunting Call will be shown on the big screens in Malaysia beginning Dec 12.
