MACC clears YTL Comms of wrongdoing over 1BestariNet project

PETALING JAYA: YTL Power International Bhd has announced that its subsidiary YTL Communications Sdn Bhd has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the RM4.07bil 1BestariNet project.

"We refer to our statements on Sept 4, 2024 and Oct 30, 2024, concerning the investigation carried out by the MACC into the 1Bestarinet Project undertaken by YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL Comms), a subsidiary of the company.

"We wish to announce that we have received confirmation from MACC that they concluded their investigations and determined that no charges will be pursued against YTL Comms," it said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 18).

The 1BestariNet project, launched by the government in 2011, had engaged YTL Communications Sdn Bhd to provide high-speed Internet access to schools involving a virtual learning system for students.

In September, Bernama reported that the MACC announced that it was launching an investigation into YTL Communications over the project.
