Boy injured escaping house fire in Ranau


The fire completely destroyed the house and also damaged other properties.

KOTA KINABALU: A 10-year-old boy was injured while escaping from a fire that destroyed a two-storey house, along with several vehicles and motorcycles, in the Ranau district, about 100km from here, on Thursday (Dec 19).

The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the incident at Kampung Kapak at 11.01am.

District station chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said their team managed to reach the location, about 3km away, at 11.04am.

"The fire was at its height when we reached the location," he said when contacted.

"The house was completely razed, and the fire also damaged four vehicles and four motorcycles.

"The boy was reported to have sustained a gash while escaping the inferno, but to what extent we have yet to ascertain," he added.

Ridwan said the victim was rushed by ambulance to the district hospital for treatment.

He said the blaze was brought under control at 11.30am and completely doused by 1.57pm.
