PETALING JAYA: There will be no charges brought against any parties over 1BestariNet’s tender process under the Education Ministry, confirms the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The commission in a statement said it had been instructed by the deputy public prosecutor that there would not be any charges after investigations which started in September detected no criminal elements in the tender process implementation.
"As a follow-up action, investigations were carried out by the MACC's governance investigations division which focused on the administration aspects and financing of the contract between YTL Communications Sdn Bhd and the Education Ministry," said the statement released Thursday (Dec 19).
"As such the deputy public prosecutor instructed MACC to present a full report of the investigation to the Education Ministry, attached with recommendations for improvement.
It said among the recommended actions was for the ministry to return to the negotiation table with YTL Communications Sdn Bhd to identify any issues arising from the contract tender of the services which was agreed upon.
YTL Power International Berhad has announced that the commission had cleared its subsidiary YTL Communications Sdn Bhd of any wrongdoing on the RM4.07bil project.
It was reported in September that MACC had initiated investigations into YTL Communications regarding the project.
