Three teen girls arrested in Kota Kinabalu drug raid

KOTA KINABALU: Three teenage girls were among nine people arrested during a drug party at a condominium unit here.

The suspects, mostly in their 20s, were apprehended following a raid by the Kota Kinabalu narcotics unit last week, said city police chief Asst Comm Kasim Muda during a press conference on Thursday (Dec 19).

He stated that the suspects, comprising six men and three women, were under the influence of drugs when police entered their premises.

Urine tests on all suspects returned positive results for methamphetamine, he said.

ACP Kasim mentioned that the suspects had only recently met each other when they decided to organise the drug party.

He noted that these nine individuals were among a total of 23 suspected drug offenders caught during the one-day crackdown around the city.

In another development, he said the city police force has been prompted to conduct raids and patrols, among other operations, in anticipation of the upcoming festive and holiday celebrations.

"A total of 25 task forces have been set up and will be operating until the year-end and New Year’s Eve to maintain safety during this season," said ACP Kasim, adding that roadblocks are also in place to ensure smoother traffic flow and road safety.
