THE ever-calm Andy Lau lost his cool when tutoring his daughter, China Press reported.
An old clip showing the 63-year-old Hong Kong superstar talking about his frustrations of teaching his daughter Hanna went viral on the social media platform Weibo.
The actor-singer admitted to yelling at his daughter, “How can you not understand something so simple?”
“I consider myself a good father, but I still lost my temper,” he said in the interview.
In response, many Internet users said they could relate to Lau’s frustrations as a father.
“Seeing one of the Four Heavenly Kings (of Cantopop) share similar woes, I feel a sense of relief,” one netizen wrote.
Despite his busy schedule, Lau is known to be very involved in his daughter’s education.
He once told the press that he forbade his daughter from using mobile applications unless they were required by her school.
Hanna, 12, is the only child of Lau and his Malaysian wife Carol Chu.
> Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom drew the ire of fans in China after announcing that he will be holding a free concert in Malaysia next month, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Since 2012, the 48-year-old superstar has held a free concert every year to show his appreciation to fans. The 2025 gig will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 8, Wang announced on social media, and thanked Malaysian fans for their unwavering support in the past few decades.
However, his message was criticised by his Chinese fans, who branded him insincere, and said he should be holding the free concert in China by thanking his fans there for their support.
They pointed out that he had held 40 concerts in China this year, as opposed to only two in Malaysia in 2023.
“If my guess is correct, he will continue to pursue his career in the Chinese market. I really don’t understand why he has chosen this place (Malaysia) to hold a free concert!” one netizen bristled.
A small number of Internet users, however, urged these supporters to respect Wang’s decision, noting that he has fans outside of China too.
