Car blocks ambulance rushing to hospital, cops investigate

PETALING JAYA: A video of a car shown to have blocked an ambulance rushing to the Banting Hospital is being investigated by the police.

Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, in a statement Friday (Dec 20), said that the incident occurred on Wednesday (Dec 18).

The ambulance was carrying a patient from the Jenjarom health clinic to the hospital at around 9.45pm.

Supt Mohd Akmalrizal said that a car in front of the ambulance refused to give way despite numerous requests from the ambulance via loudspeaker.

The ambulance sirens were turned on at the time as well.

An investigation led to the arrest of the owner of the car on Thursday (Dec 19). However, he was not the driver of the vehicle and was found to be the father of the driver.

"The driver had been rushing to KLIA to board a plane," he said adding that the suspect is currently still overseas.

Further investigations are ongoing by the police.
