'Delicate touch' needed to resolve issue of Tengku Zafrul's supposed move, says PKR's Hasan

JOHOR BARU: A "delicate touch" is needed to resolve the issue of Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz's supposed move to PKR as Umno has every right to feel slighted, says Hassan Abdul Karim.

The Pasir Gudang MP and former Johor PKR chief said that the matter should be settled amicably between the leadership of both parties.

He said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had admitted preliminary talks were held.

"The way I see it, maybe Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim needs an individual such as him in his government.

"So the main objective is not to bring an Umno member into PKR. Rather, the Prime Minister needs Tengku Zafrul due to his background in the investment and banking sector," said Hassan after handing out Christmas aid in Pasir Gudang here on Saturday (Dec 21).

Hassan added that Anwar needs to be delicate about the matter to ensure that the ongoing collaboration in the unity government remains intact.

"I think it is reasonable for Umno to feel 'kecil hati' (slighted) but since it is in the open now, it should be managed well," he said.

It was previously reported that Tengku Zafrul could leave Umno to join PKR.

Anwar later said discussions about Tengku Zafrul Aziz joining PKR were in the preliminary stage.
