A MAN in Tokyo, who had been arrested before for an obscene act, was recently charged for allegedly filming women through the mail slots on their apartment doors, China Press reported.
Japanese police discovered at least 500 explicit videos involving around 30 women on the 31-year-old man’s phone when he was caught in June.
In November last year, he was arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of a woman in her 20s and using his phone to take photos of her underwear.
In June this year, he had refined his methods, attaching his phone to a selfie stick and using it to film through mail slots on apartment doors in Tokyo’s Setagaya city.
He targeted women in their teens and 20s before he was caught. He was charged with violating Japan’s Punishment of Activities Relating to Sexual Exploitation of Children and Obscene Acts.
Police have highlighted that doors with built-in mail slots can pose security risks as the openings often directly exposed the homes’ living areas and the occupants.
> A commuter train in Taipei collided with a buffer stop and power pole after a suspected guiding error while shunting onto the washing track for cleaning.
China Press reported that Taiwan’s EMU900 commuter train departed Shulin for Hualien station on Dec 19 and after passengers disembarked, the train was moved onto the washing track by a shunting locomotive.
The locomotive’s front struck the buffer stop and a balancing block used for overhead power lines.
It resulted in damage to the front and the driver’s window.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported and Taiwan Railways Administration is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
