MELAKA: Melaka Deputy State Legislative Speaker Kerk Chee Yee has turned into an instant "rockstar" after impressing young entrepreneurs with two classical Chinese songs during a dinner at a restaurant in Taman Cheng Utama.
Kerk brought his guitar to the Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM)'s Glory Night Dinner on Friday (December 20) night before performing on stage with two other entertainers.
The Ayer Keroh assemblyman performed songs popularised by Cantopop star Jacky Cheung and Taiwanese rocker Wu Bai, earning thunderous applause from guests and award recipients at the event.
Kerk's stage performance also led the audience to sing along, with mobile phone lights illuminating the room.
Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong, PUMM National President Datuk Dr Teh Tai Yong, and Melaka PUMM leaders Calvin Lim E. Ming and Chris Pang Min Quan attended the event.
Among the award recipients were Boy Chua, director of Sin Sing Coffee Sdn Bhd, and Louis Tan, managing director of Atlantic Nyonya Restaurant.
In his speech, Khoo urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the government's various policies and incentives to restructure and transform their businesses.
