KUANTAN: Pahang Islamic affairs, rural development, and orang asli affairs committee chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad confirms that a viral video alleging the allocation of durian plantation land in Pahang to retired soldiers is misleading.
Syed Ibrahim, who represented Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at the event, clarified that the video actually shows the handover of land rights to 600 Temerloh residents under the Skim Tanah Rakyat (STR). This video had previously been shared on social media.
He explained that the ceremony was held after the state government approved the STR applications.
"Therefore, what the individual claimed may be a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of the true situation," he said on Saturday (Dec 21).
Meanwhile, Pahang Land and Mines director, Datuk Hamdan Hussin, verified that the video depicts the handover of STR land titles for the Temerloh district on Dec 1.
He added that the ceremony, led by Syed Ibrahim, included land rights for residents of numerous local villages.
Earlier, a nearly two-minute video went viral, claiming that the Pahang government had allocated two acres of durian plantation land per person to retired soldiers, who had previously cultivated the land. – Bernama
