KUALA LUMPUR: The police will remain vigilant and will not falter against any threat, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Inspector-General of Police said this following threats against the police force since the start of the Malaysia-Thailand cross-border ban for using illegal routes on Dec 1.
"It (the threats) will not deter us from carrying out duties in enforcing the law.
"We are analysing intelligence reports (over the threats).
"It is our duty to ensure that everyone adheres to laws and regulations," he said when contacted on Saturday (Dec 21).
Each police officer and personnel stationed at the border has been reminded to be vigilant and ready for any possibility, the IGP said.
"We must always be in a state of readiness.
"We will not succumb to any pressure or threats because the alternative is never an option," he said.
It was reported that Kelantan police confirmed that they have received various threats following the Malaysia-Thailand cross-border ban on anyone using illegal routes that came into effect in December.
Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the threats began trickling in as soon as enforcement began.
He did not elaborate on the kind of threat received, saying that police would not compromise on this intimidation because public order and national security must be maintained.
