Duo arrested in Batu Pahat with over 8kg of ganja


BATU PAHAT: Police have arrested two men here after they were found in possession of over 8kg of cannabis worth about RM25,000.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said two locations in Taman Melur here were raided at around 11.50am on Saturday (Dec 21).

"Two men aged 39 and 53 years old respectively were arrested. We also seized drugs believed to be ganja weighing 8.24kg with a value of RM25,557.

"One suspect tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) while the other was negative," he said here on Sunday (Dec 22).

ACP Shahrulanuar added that none of the two suspects had a criminal record.

He said the syndicate would use one of the locations raided for storage and the other to package the ganja for sale.

He added that the syndicate had been active since September 20204.

He said police also seized a car, three motorcycles and RM1,231 in cash from the suspects bringing the total value of all items seized to RM43,000.

He added that both suspects were remanded for seven days until Dec 28 for the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
