"I saw the 'flying tyre' headed for my car and I tried to steer to the left but it hit the front and right side of the car," he said on Sunday (Dec 22).

He said he immediately stopped the car and everyone got out and moved to a safe area at the side of the road.

However, the lorry did not stop but other road users managed to catch up to it.

"I was told that the lorry driver was unaware that the right rear tyre had come off," he said, adding that both he and the lorry driver filed police reports that day.

Mohamad Afiq said he was grateful no one was injured but added he was traumatised by the incident.

"I still get the jitters and afraid to use that route now," he said.

Jerantut police chief Supt Zukri Muhammad confirmed receiving a report about the incident.

"The accident only resulted in damage to the vehicles and did not cause any injuries," he said.

He said that the lorry driver was fined and the case is under investigation.
