13 breaches of festive price control scheme recorded in Perak so far this year


IPOH: A total of 13 violations of the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) were recorded in Perak this year up to Deepavali.

Deputy state Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Mohamad Kamarol Mat Nor said there were five cases during Chinese New Year, seven during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and one during Deepavali.

There were 15 cases in the same period last year, he told the media after a Christmas SHMMP walkabout at a hypermarket here on Monday (Dec 23).

It was reported earlier that 14 controlled items have been gazetted under SHMMP for Christmas this year.

The scheme will be in force from today until Friday (Dec 27).

The controlled items include imported bone-in mutton, live old chickens (Sarawak only), imported round cabbages from Indonesia and China (excluding Beijing cabbage), carrots, tomatoes, red chilies, green bell peppers, imported large red onions, large yellow onions, potatoes from China, chicken wings, live pigs (farm-level only), pork belly, and pork meat and fat.
