Fatal crash involving lorry, tour bus on NSE causes 10km traffic crawl

PETALING JAYA: A three-way crash involving a lorry, tour bus and car on North-South Expressway, is blocking northbound lanes at Ayer Keroh on Monday night (Dec 23).

It is believed that the bus and lorry both collided, while the lorry crashed off the highway and the bus skidded, coming to rest sideways across three lanes.

According to a spokesperson for the Melaka Fire Department, the Ayer Keroh Fire Department received the accident report at 8.45pm, Dec 23 (Monday).

It is believed that more than one person has died in the accident, reported Sin Chew Daily.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said on X that the accident occurred at KM203.9 towards the north between the Simpang Ampat to Ayer Keroh route, causing both north and southbound lanes to be affected.

In its latest update at 11.10pm, all northbound lanes and the right lanes towards the south are still blocked.

"Traffic has stopped at 10km northbound and congested 6km southbound," it said.

Those travelling north have been diverted to Ayer Keroh Toll, it said, while a smart lane is opened for those travelling south, and vehicles can use emergency lanes at these specific locations.

"Plan your journey and drive carefully," it added.
