Missing 81-year-old man found safe near Kota Belud

KOTA KINABALU: An 81-year-old man missing for over 72 hours after leaving his house in Kampung Keguraan in the Kota Belud district has been found safe on Monday (Dec 23).

Firefighters and villagers located Rajim Kemad at about 2.30pm on Monday, around 400 metres from his residence.

Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Syazwan Latun said Rajim did not suffer any physical injuries, but was a little weak and tired.

"The victim was sent to the hospital for further observation and treatment," he added.

Firefighters received a distress call for assistance at 2.50pm on Saturday (Dec 22) after family members could not locate him. He had left the house without informing anyone at around 8am on Friday (Dec 21).

"We conducted an initial search on Saturday with other rescue agencies and villagers. However, it was difficult to pinpoint his location as he had left without informing the family," Syazwan said, adding that the search operations resumed on Monday.
