TANAH MERAH: Organisers of a dinner event that featured a woman performing a provocative dance in public may face legal action.
Kelantan's State Executive Councillor for Local Government, Housing, Health, and Environment, Hilmi Abdullah, told Sinar Harian that the state government is currently awaiting a full report from the Tanah Merah District Council.
"Organisers can be fined for not having an entertainment permit, as all entertainment, whether open or closed, must have a permit.
"Additionally, the premises owner can be fined for lacking an Entertainment Venue Licence," he said when contacted on Sunday.
He explained that the event clearly violated Section 6 of the Entertainment and Entertainment Places Control Enactment 1998 for not having a licence.
If found guilty, those involved may face a maximum fine of RM20,000 or five years in prison, or both.
Hilmi mentioned that initial information suggests the event took place on Dec 21.
He noted that most of the attendees were miners from mainland China.
"All of them are involved in mining activities around Tanah Merah. Additionally, company employees and other guests were present," he said.
Previously, a video went viral showing a woman performing a provocative dance in revealing attire, drawing criticism for violating Kelantan government regulations.
