34-year-old man dies in multi-vehicle collision in Pasir Gudang


JOHOR BARU: A 34-year-old man was killed in an accident involving two cars and two lorries at KM12.1 of Jalan Permas, Pasir Gudang, here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred on Monday (Dec 23) at 2.17pm.

“The collision occurred when the driver of an MPV, travelling from Tanjung Langsat towards Johor Baru, lost control of the vehicle and hit a streetlight pole in the middle of the road.

“The vehicle then veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a car.

“Shortly after, a lorry travelling in the opposite direction could not avoid the fallen streetlight pole and crashed into the rear of the second car.

“Another trailer lorry also collided with the streetlight pole on the road,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday (Dec 24).

Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that the driver of the MPV, a 34-year-old man, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While the driver of the car, a Chinese national, sustained minor injuries. All other drivers involved have provided statements to the police,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The police have urged the public to always comply with road safety regulations and remain vigilant while driving.

Witnesses with information about the incident are encouraged to contact the Seri Alam District Police at 07-3864222 to assist with the investigation.

Earlier, a 38-sec video was uploaded by a TikTok user known as @si_epol showing the aftermath of the crash.
