Parliament volunteers lend a helping hand

KUALA LUMPUR: A convoy of six four-wheel drive vehicles carrying more than 15 volunteers from the Parliament departed for Jeniang in Kedah on a post-flood relief mission.

Organised by the Malaysian Parliament Welfare and Sports Club, the group will deliver daily necessities and assist in cleaning the homes of flood victims, Bernama reported.

“Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul will join the volunteers, who are led by Malaysian Parliament chief administrator Datuk Ahmad Husaini Abdul Rahman.

“The mission aligns with the Malaysian Parliament’s goal of bringing Parliament closer to the people through direct engagement via programmes and activities,” the Malaysian Parliament corporate communications division said in a statement.

The convoy was flagged off by undersecretary (management) Riduan Rahmat yesterday.
