KOTA KINABALU: Several groups are asking for action to be taken against political activist Fahmi Reza for continuing to insult the incoming 11th Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Musa Aman through provocative posts.
Beaufort Umno division Youth chief Ak Mohd Yazri Ak Mohd Yahaya said such posts were creating disharmony and were seen as inciting anger and hatred towards Musa, who is scheduled to be sworn in as Governor on Jan 1.
"We call for the authorities to take legal action against Fahmi Reza to ensure no untoward incidents occur in Sabah.
"It seems that some of the posts intend to incite the people of Sabah with negative elements... Fahmi Reza's actions have already caused uneasiness among the people of this state," he said in a statement Friday (Dec 27).
Mohd Yazri noted that through Fahmi Reza's caricatures and post, he was also urging people to protest over the appointment.
"We want the authorities to take strict action against Fahmi Reza and stop his actions as soon as possible.
"This morning we saw Fahmi's post in front of a famous tourist picture taking spot at the Maybank building along Jalan Pantai in Kota Kinabalu. It has since gone viral on social media," Mohd Yazri said.
A non-government movement Pertubuhan Lima Generasi Malaysia (PLG) lodged a police report with Kota Kinabalu police on Friday (Dec 27).
PLG secretary Mohd Syarezan Abdul Samat said they also want the state government to take action against activist Fahmi Reza, who is seen as trying to bring chaos and cause disunity among Sabahans.
Mohd. Syarezan said the state government could also take action to prevent Fahmi Reza from disrupting the peace by his presence in the state.
About 60 members of PLG turned up at the city police headquarters.
Mohd Syarezan said that Fahmi Reza had already come into the state based on his posting on Facebook and the state must take action against him.
In the police report, he said that it was made following caricatures of Musa Aman that were uploaded on social media sites on Dec 17 and Dec 24.
"Today, Fahmi has come to Sabah with the same picture," Mohd Syarezan said, adding that the posting uploaded on Fahmi Reza's social media page was clearly a provocation regarding the appointment of the Governor.
"The display of Musa clearly insults TYT. Such actions clearly disrespect and disrespect the decision of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and this has touched the 3R issue (race, religion, kings)," he added.
There is speculation that Fahmi Reza might join a peaceful assembly by university students to push for action against corruption at Menara Kinabalu, the state's administrative centre, on Dec 31.
