SHAH ALAM: Actor Rozita Che Wan, better known as Che Ta, has paid off part of her loan debt to Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), amounting to RM550,000, reports Malay language daily Sinar Harian.
Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the payment was received on Friday (Dec 27), causing the enforcement of a judgement against Rozita to be postponed.
"The remaining outstanding debt must be fully settled within three months before the end of March.
"I have emphasised that Mara will not compromise with any action to recover every penny of the people's entrusted money.
"This will enable this money to be utilised for the benefit of other people who are in great need," Asyraf Wajdi said in a Facebook post Sunday (Dec 29).
Previously, Rozita claimed to have settled a Mara loan worth almost RM1mi.
This was conveyed by Rozita through a screenshot of a conversation with her youngest child, Aaisyah Dhia Rana, 10, via WhatsApp.
Aaisyah had asked about the status of the debt to the point where almost all of Rozita's property was nearly seized in the mother-daughter discussion.
On Dec 10, Rozita's residence in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, was reportedly raided by Mara officials along with lawyers and court representatives due to allegations of failing to repay a loan worth almost RM1mil.
Rozita was said to have still not met with the relevant party to discuss the restructuring and rescheduling of a loan amounting to RM960,000 made to her company, RCW Worldwide Sdn Bhd.
Following this, Mara's legal department reportedly filed for bankruptcy against Rozita and her oldest child, Ammar Effendy, who failed to repay the loan.
On Dec 24, a public auction involving 34 items belonging to Rozita, with a total value of RM902,012.46, was supposed to take place but was postponed at the actor's request.
