Locals capture crocodile lurking near Sandakan town

KOTA KINABALU: Locals captured a 50kg crocodile lurking in the main drains of a suburban township in Sandakan.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) assisted in securing the over one-metre-long reptile at the Bandar Megah township along Jalan Labuk at around 7.30pm on Saturday (Dec 28).

An APM spokesman said the crocodile was handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department rangers for further action.

The spokesman added there were no incidents of human-crocodile conflict and no injuries among those involved in capturing the crocodile, adding that the public had alerted the APM to the crocodile.
