KUALA LUMPUR: A surprise inspection has been conducted at the Wangsa Maju Puspakom by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
The inspection was part of a nationwide operation to ensure Puspakom centres are inspecting vehicles according to prescribed standards
JPJ senior enforcement director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, told Sinar Harian on Monday (Dec 30) that an approved vehicle that did not meet safety standards was discovered.
He added that the manager and staff member responsible for the check had been ordered to present themselves to the JPJ office on Tuesday for questioning.
"The operation at Wangsa Maju Puspakom lasted two hours and 115 lorries were inspected. A total of 69 summonses were issued and action taken against 29 vehicles," he said.
He added that the inspections nationwide were part of phase two of the operation, with prior road blocks being conducted along highways previously.
The inspections at Puspakom centres were conducted without prior notice and were conducted following instructions from Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
