Johor tahfiz school badly damaged in blaze


BATU PAHAT: A tahfiz school and hostel in Parit Raja here were severely damaged in a fire.

Ayer Hitam fire station operations commander Nasrul Rahman said the incident at Maahad Tahfiz Al Johari in Jalan Pasir Bingan Darat, Parit Raja was reported at 8.35am on Tuesday (Dec 31).

“A team of 23 firefighters went to the school, some 10km from the station.

“The fire had already destroyed about 70% of the two-storey building when we arrived," he said in a statement.

He added that no injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished within two hours.
