RM3.32mil in dengue fines issued this year but only 65% paid up, says Johor exco man


JOHOR BARU: A total of 6,642 compound notices worth more than RM3.32mil were issued by the Johor Health Department this year during enforcement action for the prevention and control of dengue fever.

State health and environment committee Chairman Ling Tian Soon said only 65% of those receiving the notices had paid the compounds.

"The cumulative dengue cases up to epidemiological week 52/2024 came to 13,190, an increase of 22.2% from the same period last year, when 10,794 cases were recorded.

"So far, 20 deaths have been reported, compared to 22 deaths last year," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 31).

He reminded the community to always carry out activities to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites within and outside their premises. – Bernama
