It was reported that a man, who is suffering from mental illness, had allegedly trespassed into a mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail during Subuh prayers at around 5.40am on Wednesday (Jan 1).

A 2 minutes-46 seconds video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Sources said the man, in his late 20s, was driving from his home in Jalan U Thant before heading to the mosque while his family members were following in another car.

"Upon arrival, the man barged into the mosque and caused a ruckus while the congregants were preparing to perform the Subuh prayers," sources said.

The video showed that one of the congregants had calmed down the man before his family members ushered him out of the mosque.

The man was handed over to the police, who arrived at the scene.

The man was then brought to UMMC before it was discovered he was previously diagnosed with a mental illness.
