Malaysia upholds foreign policy principles of peace, neutrality, justice, says Tok Mat

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia remains steadfast in upholding its foreign policy principles, maintaining an open economy, peace, and neutrality while rejecting any form of aggression, violation of sovereignty or injustice, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

While addressing the the Foreign Ministry's monthly assembly at Wisma Putra on Friday (Jan 3), the Foreign Minister urged the staff to represent Malaysia with dignity, credibility and to uphold these values.

"Our role is to raise Malaysia’s global image. We expect excellence from the staff at Wisma Putra both at home and across Malaysia’s diplomatic missions overseas," he said.

Mohamad emphasised the need for the staff to adapt to swift changes, including technological advancements and evolving societal expectations.

"Times, technology, and public demands are changing. We must raise our standards to remain relevant,” he said.

He motivated the personnel to accept change, stay proactive, and meet the demands of the present era.

"The world isn't going to wait for us; we must move with the times. Let's carry this trust with honesty and dedication to ensure success,” he said.

Mohamad also asked the staff to remain proactive, recognising the interconnectivity and interdependence of the modern world.

He acknowledged that Malaysia’s global reputation, built on peace, progress and productivity, is crucial to attract investment and foster growth.

"All our diplomatic missions are our eyes and ears. They must be attuned to global shifts to ensure Malaysia stays ahead,” he added.

Mohamad reminded the staff of their responsibility in ensuring the success of Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship this year, describing it as an important task that requires collective diligence and determination.

"This is a heavy responsibility, but we can achieve it together with diligence and determination.” – Bernama
