KOTA KINABALU: A teenage boy was killed when he was hit by a car while crossing a road near Kampung Tebobon on the city outskirts on Thursday (Jan 2) night.

The 13-year-old succumbed to severe injuries at the scene.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda confirmed that the accident occurred at around 9.40pm and involved a man in his 20s driving towards Bandar Sierra from the city.

“As a result of the impact, the victim was thrown to the side of the road and sustained fatal injuries.

"Medical officers at the scene confirmed his death,” ACP Kasim said in a statement on Friday (Jan 3).

The victim’s body was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.

Investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
