Teenagers arrested for dangerous road stunts


JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested four youths for performing hazardous road stunts during a Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department operation.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the suspects are aged between 18 and 20 and were arrested for endangering themselves and others.

“The department conducted a special operation early on Saturday (Jan 4) to combat illegal street racing and reckless riding activities in Johor Baru city,” he said.

ACP Raub added that the operation held between 12.30am and 5am focused on inspecting riders and vehicles involved in activities that posed risks to themselves and other road users.

He added that four motorcycles were seized for further investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Additionally, six traffic summonses were issued for offences including driving without a valid licence and unauthorised vehicle modifications.

This case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Raub said the police would continue to monitor and take strict action at locations identified as hotspots for such activities.

The public is urged to assist authorities in eradicating illegal street racing and reckless road behaviour by providing information through the IPD Johor Baru South hotline at 07-218 2222.
