No untoward incidents during Najib solidarity rally, says Putrajaya cops


PUTRAJAYA: No untoward incidents occurred during the solidarity rally for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Monday (Jan 6).

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed said as of 1.45pm, some 456 police personnel and officers are still deployed at the Palace of Justice and its surrounding areas to ensure safety for all.

"So far, no unwanted incidents has occurred.

"We hope this will remain so and we also hope those who attended the rally will not resort to any form of provocation," he said when met at the Palace of Justice on Monday (Jan 6).

ACP Aidi Sham said he hoped the people will respect the police's duty in maintaining public order and ensuring safety.

He said the police will open an investigation into the rally under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"We will investigate and call up those involved to record their statements," he said.

The crowd of supporters had begun to thin at the Palace of Justice but there is a a group of supporters gathered at the building's back entrance, waiting for Najib to leave while under police supervision.

They were heard shouting "Hidup Bossku" in support of the former prime minister.
