Pahang Umno grateful for confirmation of Najib's royal addendum order

KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Umno has thanked the state Ruler for confirming the existence of a royal addendum order in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's pardon.

The party's state liaison committee also thanked the Court of Appeal for allowing Najib to initiate judicial review over the prison time imposed on him in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

"I extend our utmost gratitude to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, for certifying the validity of an addendum order allowing Najib to serve his remaining jail term under house arrest, dated Jan 29 last year as the then 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong," its chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said in a statement on Monday (Jan 6).

"This decision by the court has given hope to him (Najib) and his family.

"All of us will continue to have faith and carry on the struggle to ensure he gets justice," he said.

Wan Rosdy, who is also an Umno vice-president, said the letter by the Pahang Sultanate Council dated Jan 4 further proves that the affidavits supporting Najib's claim submitted by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and himself (Wan Rosdy) were legitimate and not hearsay or inadmissible.

The Pahang Mentri Besar then stressed that Umno will always uphold its principles when it comes to the rule of law.

"We have respect for the judicial process in this country and the royal institution.

"I would like to call on all Umno members to continue to be united and not let any issue divide our unity," he said.

It was reported that a letter by the Pahang Sultanate Council, signed by the Comptroller of the Pahang Sultan's Household Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman, confirmed the existence of a royal addendum for Najib's pardon.

The letter said the order was made by Al-Sultan Abdullah for Najib to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.
