PETALING JAYA: A pilot lost over RM1mill after being duped into a fake investment scheme.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement on Monday (Jan 6), said that the 50-year-old pilot had been introduced to the scheme after seeing an advertisement on Instagram.

"The victim had not been promised specific returns and was just told to invest as much as possible to reap higher dividends and perks," he said.

The victim was then told to use the UVKXE platform for his trading, with him depositing a total of RM1,366,885 between Oct and Dec 2024.

A total of 34 bank transactions into 10 separate accounts were made then.

"He only received his returns once from all the money he had invested, which was RM4,300.

"The victim was then told that he had only needed to press the withdraw button on the application if he wanted to take out any amount of money, with the cash deposited into his account within 24 hours. However despite doing so, no money had been sent, he then lodged a police report after feeling cheated," he said.

Comm Hussein has urged the public to be aware of such investment scams on social media offering “illogical” returns.
