Why did govt hide royal addendum and not implement it, Najib's son asks

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's son Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin asks why the government hid and did not implement the royal addendum for his father to serve house arrest.

This is after the Court of Appeal allowed Najib's bid for leave to commence judicial review over an alleged royal addendum.

"The royal addendum exists and it was not implemented.

"There are two issues now, why did you hide it and why did you not implement it?," he told reporters outside of the Palace of Justice on Monday (Jan 6).

He said he did not want to elaborate as he would bring the matter further to the High Court next.

"I would like to express my highest gratitude to the Sultan of Pahang for confirming the existence of the royal addendum.

"It proves that it can be used in court and not hearsay," added Nazifuddin.

He said that he wished to bring his father to meet all the supporters outside but the law does not allow him to do so.

"For now, nobody can see him, we shall wait for the next action in court," he said.

"The public can see for themselves that the royal addendum exists," added Nazifuddin.

He also said that his father was touched by all the public support given to him.

Earlier, Najib succeeded in obtaining leave from the Court of Appeal in a split 2-1 decision in his appeal relating to his claims of a royal addendum order that would allow him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

In the majority decision, the appellate court overturned the High Court's dismissal of Najib's application for leave to initiate judicial review over the prison time imposed on him in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial.
