BANGI: Umno members are reminded not to participate in the rally in support of their former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya today, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Members who still choose to attend the rally would have to bear the risk themselves, he said.
“If anyone attends the solidarity rally, we leave it to them to accept the risk,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“We also hope there are no organisers from any Umno divisions or branches officially involved in the rally,” he told reporters after launching Kuali Cafe@Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) here yesterday, reported Bernama.
At yesterday’s launch, Ahmad Zahid urged food stall and cafe operators at public universities to provide balanced and nutritious meals, rather than focusing solely on profit.
He also said the Menu Rahmah initiative needs to be continued in all universities to ensure that more students have access to affordable and healthy food options.
“I hope this effort extends beyond Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, with Menu Rahmah being offered at other campuses as well. Don’t just prioritise profits.
“This initiative brings blessings, including the prayers of students for providing nutritious and reasonably priced meals,” Ahmad Zahid was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, also emphasised the importance of food operators prioritising effective food waste management to prevent disruptions to the environmental ecosystem.
UKM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman, in a statement, expressed his hopes that the cafe would not only serve as a destination for enjoying delectable dishes with diverse menu options but also as a space for the university community to share experiences, create cherished memories and foster stronger friendships.
He added that the launch of the eatery is timely.
It aims to be a unifying destination for the UKM community, offering an array of enticing and flavourful meals to satisfy varied tastes.
