KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,699 items of content online have been marked to be taken down in the first week of the year, says Fahmi Fadzil.

As of Jan 7, the Communication Minister said that 72% of the content was related to online gambling, while 14% were to do with various scams.

"All in all, about 86% of the online content marked for take down was related to cyber crimes," he told the press after opening the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) 2025 here on Tuesday (Jan 7).

Fahmi also said the requests for such content to be taken down came from the police following investigations.
