Organiser among 43 questioned in probe, says police

PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded the statement of the Pinkfish concert organiser in connection with the deaths and injuries of concert-goers at the New Year’s Eve event.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat confirmed that the organiser was summoned to the district police headquarters yesterday.

“So far, statements from 43 individuals, including the organiser, have been taken,” he said, adding that more individuals, including the friends and family of the deceased, will be called in for questioning.

“We are still awaiting toxicology reports for the four victims who died,” said ACP Wan Azlan.

It was reported that four local individuals died after attending the Pinkfish concert in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, on New Year’s Eve. The victims are believed to have consumed ecstasy pills at the event.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that the four, along with three others, fell unconscious after using drugs at the concert.

The three survivors have since been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.

Comm Hussein mentioned that some victims allegedly purchased the drugs before attending the concert, while others may have bought them at the venue.

Comm Hussein said the concert organiser had failed to ensure the safety of attendees.
