Arrest warrant issued on unlicensed daycare owner

KUALA LANGAT: An unlicensed daycare centre owner has been issued an arrest warrant after failing to attend the Telok Datok Magistrate's Court on Wednesday (Jan 8).

The owner failed to attend court to face charges for operating without a licence from the Kuala Langat Municipal Council, reported Sinar Harian.

Magistrate Maslinda Selamat made the decision after granting the application by the prosecuting officer for an arrest warrant against the individual, aged in their early 40s.

The defendant faces charges under the council’s Trade, Business and Industrial By-Laws 2007.

The proceedings were handled by senior council prosecuting officers Hasrizal Abd Rahim and Ahmad Razali Abdul Manaf.

In a statement, the council advised any companies or individuals operating daycare centres and kindergartens to obtain a licence and approval or face legal action.

"The council also reminds the public to always comply with the laws and regulations set by the council before conducting business activities here," it said.
