SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan government will make a one-off RM200 payment to those above 70 this year just before they celebrate their respective major festival, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic).
The Mentri Besar said only registered voters are eligible.
"If both the husband and wife are above 70, they will get RM400.
"All they need to do is register with the N9 Digital application if they haven’t," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (Jan 8).
He said those who had registered would not have to do so again.
Aminuddin said 37,537 individuals received the one-off payment last year, which involved a sum of RM7.5mil.
He said the recipients can check with the service centre of their respective assemblymen on the payment status.
In the five constituencies held by the Opposition, they can do so with the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional appointed coordinators.
Separately, Aminuddin urged couples with newborn babies this year to also apply for the RM100 incentive from the state government.
The incentive is given in the form of savings with the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN).
"Last year, the parents of only 206 babies applied for this benefit as others may not be aware of this benefit.
"It is my hope that more will apply this year," he said.
Aminuddin said his administration would also continue with the other schemes and incentives introduced previously for the people's benefit.
Last year, the state government paid out more than RM1mil to 2,085 individuals getting married for the first time, RM2.9mil to 3,446 students pursuing programmes at tertiary education, some RM1mil in medical aid to 294 individuals and RM2.3mil for programmes under Nismilan Prihatin.
Aminuddin said his administration could continue carrying out such programmes as its income was more than its expenditure.
The state, he said, managed to collect a record RM636mil in revenue for 2024 while expenditure totalled RM565mil.
"This is also the third consecutive year where we have managed to turn a deficit budget into a surplus one," he said, adding that this was made possible due to the state government's prudent and well-thought-out policies.
