Teen pleads not guilty to stabbing aunt


BUKIT MERTAJAM: A teenage girl has claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here to stabbing her aunt.

The 14-year-old entered the not guilty plea after the charge was read out to her by a court interpreter before Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan.

The accused nodded to show she understood the charge and then claimed trial.

She allegedly committed the offence at a home in Jalan Perai Jaya at 11.30am last Friday.

She was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon or means.

Deputy public prosecutor Zulfadzly Hassan proposed bail at RM5,000 with one surety.

Lawyer Muhaimin Hashim pleaded for a lower bail because his client is still a minor.

Mohd Harith set bail at RM3,000 with one surety, with an additional condition that the accused must not approach or disturb the victim until the case is resolved.

The magistrate fix March 20 for case mention for the forensic and medical reports.

It is learnt that the girl’s father posted bail.
