Former unit trust firm employee charged with CBT involving over RM263,000


SIBU: A former employee of unit trust management company here was charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (Jan 9) with criminal breach of trust involving funds.

Alina Tommy, 32, of Lucky Garden in Kanowit, allegedly committed the offence involving RM263,296.12 belonging to customers between 2020 and March 2024.

She was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between one and 14 years with whipping and liable to a fine on conviction.

No plea was recorded from the Alina, represented by lawyer Yap Hoi Liong.

Magistrate Romario Jonoi set Jan 23 for mention of the case at the Sessions Court and ordered the woman to be released on bail of RM10,000 with two sureties.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Amoirul Hakim Mohamad Zamri appeared for the prosecution. - Bernama
